Hello there. 👋
I can’t access my site via my PC anymore due to systemic changes and, since it was such a DIY build, I can no longer update my site (I had manually add each new post to my Rants) but…
Oh well! 😺
As a quick recap, Halloween is alive and well here.

Our home is almost ready…
Inside and out.
For the record, Art Bar is our local and, when we walk out of the establishment, I look down the street and see our house glowing in the distance.
Tech Sidebar
SO I noticed the Word Press Jet Pack is also pretty unhelpful (I see the block I had just allegedly deleted while writing this post still haunting the space below while some setting menu is genuinely blocking the text I’m writing now).

So I’m not sure if I’ll continue to pay to keep this site but for now let’s set all that aside.
Some genuinely big changes have happened in the lives of our two dogs.
As a refresher, they’re both rescues.
First we got June Carter Cash.

She was so broken she wouldn’t eat, drink or move. She didn’t seem connected to her body.

She had been found with a pack of dogs who were supposedly her brothers in a cemetery in Oklahoma which only has kill shelters. So someone reported them and a shelter in Wisconsin drove down to bring them all to Wisconsin for adoption.
So, after we adopted her, poor June was for months like a pillow on our couch.
A pillow we couldn’t touch or move around.
But she was the most well behaved dog at the vet or at Pet Supplies Plus because she was pretending to be a dog and looking at me to show her how but… I’m a human. 😂

I didn’t need to hand feed her as much anymore and she seemed to be blossoming in her own little way.
But she still seemed to have a long way to go. So we got another dog to teach the mogwai how to be a dog.
And Baezy turned out to be the doggiest dog I had ever seen.

Crazy Baezy was also damaged as he allegedly came from a breeder (maybe a Saint Bernard had its way with the purebred cattle dogs because what kind of breeder breeds mutts?)…
He was donated to a no kill Humane Society and stayed there for almost two years.
They moved him from one Humane Society to another because he wasn’t adopted.
He was kept in his “own room”, away from the other dogs for no particular reason.

And, while at the final shelter, they accidentally cut his quick when they were trimming his nails.
The shelter worker said she’d never seen so much blood and they had to call the vet to come and sedate him to cauterize the wound as it wouldn’t stop gushing.
So he is NOT OKAY with any kind of object that fits in a human hand.
Besides a tennis ball. Because he is a D-O-G.

I finally got him to be okay with a hair brush but that took work.

Baezy also has the most vicious bark and growl which he displays when he sees any other dog (besides June).
So we don’t know if he’s vicious or just a really bad communicator.
He’s great with people and kids so… who knows.
SO we now have June Carter Cash and crazy Baezy.

The funny thing is how June is the dominant dog.
She is becoming. And I’m worried she is also a compete spaz.
Lately, her sad tail has started to curl.
So now we have two ridiculous curled tail dogs.
And lately June has started to play with Baezy. I’ve been so worried about big Baezy crushing poor little June that it was pretty cool to see her pushing back. The new dog has turned June into a dog.

But recently… it seems June is the harder of the two.
Baezy is not as smart as June and he is genuinely a sweetheart. His purpose is to watch over his flock and to herd stragglers back to the group.
This is why we can’t take him to a dog park but he’s great for camping. You walk into the woods at night and he will nip at you until you return to the fire and the group.

He has his purpose and he lives for it.
June, on the other hand, may simply live to dominate.
Suddenly she is taking Baezy’s bones away like he had done to her since he came home with us last Christmas.

I for the first time have had to assertively correct June for her really shitty behavior which is shocking to me.
Last Thursday, Baezy had taken BOTH special bones I had given to them the day before.
He is a hoarder. He has issues.
So, when I got home from work, I lectured Baezy and brought both bones downstairs and gave one to June and one to Baezy.
But then June kept trying to get Baezy’s special bone.
Over and over.
On her last attempt, I had to say, “June!!” and she looked at me with this bright-eyed impish expression.
She then JUMPED and stomped toward me with her toes all splayed so her paws made a thud with each stomp.
She had lost her dog mind.
Granted, I had definitely been egging her on so I take full responsibility but… WOW.
And I apologize for fat-shaming Baezy. He’s such a pushy bully sometimes so it feels fine.
And our vet recently said he is 14 pounds overweight which is funny to us because… HOW. Yet, I bought him diet science food (but he gets such a small amount of June’s Active Dog food we are baffled as to how he has gained weight).
He has no problem with digestion either.
We will bring this up again with our new vet who is wonderful.
Maybe it is thyroid or something else but, in the meantime, we’re getting even more exercise.
Dogs are not allowed on the bed but when it’s Badger Football Saturday rules go out the window!
Happy Halloween everyone!
Hope you’re all staying safe. 🖤
What a handsome portrait of the two of them on the steps in the sun!

You are such an amazing poochie-mama! These two hard luck dogs are so lucky you found them. It’s great that Baezy is teaching June how to become a real dog. Happy Halloween to the whole fam-damily.

Oops! Hit send too soon and can’t get it back! Anyway, as I was saying, bless you for taking on those 2 beautiful pups and giving them a forever home with humans who love them and all their quirks and foibles. Isn’t that what we all really want? And Happy Halloween month!
